Company History

Black Isle was founded in Edinburgh in 1990 by John Miers. The following year the Toronto Office was opened to service large North American clients, amongst them Boeing, Xerox, Andersen Consulting, CIBC and Bank of Montreal.

In 1993, The Hong Kong office was established. Companies based in India to Korea and Singapore were quickly added to the group's growing list of clients and the Asian team grew from strength to strength. The company focused on executive presentation and leadership training and also coached senior executives in media appearances, particularly business television.

In 1998, after a short spell in Hong Kong, Tim Richardson established the London office.

In 1999, Black Isle won the Hong Kong Trainer of the Year award. In 2001 Black Isle worked with the Toronto 2008 Olympic Bid campaign. Although the bid was lost to Beijing, in the final ballot, the Olympic committee said that it was one of the best presented bids they had ever seen.

By 2002 Black Isle had established three strong bases in London, Toronto, and Hong Kong with other offices in New York, Shanghai, Sydney and Dubai.

In 2010 all offices were grouped together under the Black Isle Group global brand, having become an advisor of choice for many of the leading international banks, law firms and professional service firms throughout the world in the areas of Communication, Leadership and Business Development.
